I’m currently testing from 2005 on the H1 for a few of my pairs (roughly 90k bars). I’ve been looking into using 20% OOS and then keeping the last 6 months of data in my back pocket as a final test after Monte Carlo. Today I just threw some GBPJPY strats on the demo account for testing, will let you know how it goes!

P.S. only 2 made it onto my demo account after 20 hours of scanning. Only the strategies that passed the 20% OOS and the 6 months visual check.

    Dommech,

That honestly sounds like a Crap Ton of work LOL. I’m working on a few ideas myself, but managing 10+ accounts is not one of them haha. I want a max of 4 accounts 2 demo, 2 live with only two different brokers. I work 60 hours a week and Gym 8 hours, so I wont even attempt to manage 2 more accounts until I’m trading full time. Keep us updated on your testing. I plan to balance out (bring the account back to starting balance) once a year to bring it back to the US for safekeeping. Last thing I need is a 6-7 figure account hanging out in a country I cant fight in for my money.

I’ve been collecting live data instead of demo to train on. Hard to get enough as with any broker but so far so good.

@Otis- Our searches are very similar, though I’ve added minimum win rates to help keep me sane. I am currently trading live with an EA Petko supplied in September with a 40% win rate to help stretch my tolerance levels. Going good so far after giving it 20 demo trades before the live account. 29 trades since September Net profit of $398, 13 W’s 16 L’s.

    Andi,

You’ll have to widen your acceptance criteria to find more than the 3 or run it longer. I run the reactor before going to bed and then see what it found after I get home from work (about 20 hours total). Hope this helps?

    Chingi,

Welcome to the family. At the end of the day EA Studio and FSB are tools (I sound like Popov…). At the end of the day it takes time to get familiar with how to use them the right way. Take your time, ask lots of questions, you’ll find Petko to be a Very great resource if you get stuck.

    Dommech,

Interesting you posted this, I was going to try and see if I could find better strategies by running long/short only entries. Have you been demo testing this yet?

@John: I’m not an IT guy either, in my previous career I was a bread baker and now in sales and marketing. Have never put a PC together in my life, but just like with bread, you watch other people do it enough you can ease your way through it. Comes out a lot cheaper, especially to upgrade a few things here and there every few years 😉

    @Jordan
: My laptop is 7 years old, only running 2 cores and 4gb of ram. This think hates life when running FSB let alone get any other productivity out of it while running. Which is why I’ve turned to EA Studio, but eats up all my ram. So again cant do much while she’s running the softwares. Forum is about it lol

    Hey Dommech,

I’ve been trying to figure out a portfolio myself, was looking to get a mix of the different sessions. So far I’ve been working on the following but want to add S+P 500, WTI, and Nikkei when I can figure out what parameters I like. Also my laptop is too old so I can only run a few pairs at a time…. want to make the market pay for my new computer 😉

    EUR/USD, GBP/JPY, USD/JPY, XAU/USD, DE30Index, EUR/GBP

    Hi Petko,

I was playing around with the idea of having the EA’s only active during their respective sessions. Is this something you’ve looked into or have any insights on? Started thinking about running session specific EA’s for like the EU, so it’d only be active right at the start of London till maybe noon here on EST when our NYC traders start calming down. Let me know your thoughts. Happy New Year everybody!

    John,

Don’t feel bad, I was very close to swiping my card on a gaming laptop this weekend. I decided to look at how much it would cost to build a PC with the focus of processing power for the builders instead of graphics and frame rates for gaming. Check out a youtuber Joey Delgado. I’ve been watching his “how to build” videos. Everything he’s picked out for the budget builds are gaming specific. So I started doing homework on a data processing focus components with memory for all the data sets instead of high end graphics cards for frame rates.

    Hola Petko,

Thank you for the insights, that does make a lot of sense. When’s a good time to turn everything back on? 2nd week of January?

    Hola,

I’ve actually been doing a lot of homework on this topic the past week. My current set up is a 7 year old Sony Vaio, so this thing is crawling when running FSB or EA Studio. Since EA Studios runs on Popov’s servers I’ve been using it way more until I can get a new computer. Looking at building a PC with a 12-16 core processor, and probably going to go 32gb of Ram so I can actually USE my computer while running either FSB or EA Studios at lightning speeds. It would actually come out to be cheaper than buying a gaming laptop or pc which usually comes with a 6 core processor and 8gb of ram. I’m not a computer expert by any means but cores+ram=lightning speed is all I needed to know!
